"Creating a room is like building a wardrobe - you put the basics on first (in a room, it's the paint, rugs, and big pieces of furniture), then add the accessories (occasional seating, pillows, objects, artwork, ornament). The accessories steer the look in one direction or another."

From the bag in the doorway of the last image, I would guess someone was going on a trip. If you lived there, would you ever want to leave?! I wouldn't :)
ReplyDeleteI love this quote - it's very true
ReplyDeleteI think that putting a room together is like layering - you start with the rug and then build up from the - furniture on top and then soft furnishings on top of that :) x

Hi Julie, the colours are very interesting. I'm just stopping by to say how delightful your blog is. Thanks so much for sharing. I have recently found your blog and am now following you, and will visit often. Please stop by my blog and perhaps you would like to follow me also. Have a wonderful day. Hugs, Chris

Morning, what lovely pictures. The quote is so true, you definitely want to start with the main items in a room first before scattering accessories, otherwise a room can feel cluttered and loose any sense of character. I love the French stye seat in picture 2 - what a feature and the rustic furniture in the last picture is charming, what a gorgeous entrance to a home, so welcoming and warm.
