White Walls: Yay or Nay?
Are you a fan of white walls? I used to think white walls were a design "sin" ;), but over the years, my taste and style have evolved and I definitely have an appreciation for white spaces. I'm a big fan of color and personally prefer neutral (beige, gray, etc.) or colorful walls over stark white walls...however, there are definitely times where all white walls look beautiful and totally "work"! What do you think? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

I love white walls but I think I could't live there.I need color(s);-)
ReplyDeleteI prefer white walls to beige walls but I like to mix in some Scandi-style brights to the mix!
ReplyDeleteMy absolute fave! And i love how other colours really pop when everything else is white. I tire of coloured walls so quickly. white is so fresh.
ReplyDeleteI think white walls make a bold statement when it has the right accessories on the walls and/or in the living space. Otherwise, it might just look boring!
ReplyDeleteAll photos above are beautifully decorated!! Very chic.
White walls photograph so well, but I would miss color! I do love the illustrations above the tub, and the antlers above the bed!
ReplyDeleteI always thought white walls just looked unfinished, but I recently painted a black accent wall in a bedroom and keeping the other walls white makes it look so fresh! I still think I'd shy away from a fully white-walled room but in some cases I think it does work really well!
ReplyDeleteI have always loved keeping the walls of the spaces I design for clients neutral and light. The accessories and furniture are where I bring in my hints of color, pattern, and texture. I like to consider the furnishings as the art on the blank canvas, I think it makes for a very timeless and elegant design. Happy Friday!!

ReplyDeleteLet's not forget that white comes in so many shades other then stark white, and with the changing light it can be nothing less then spectacular!

ReplyDeletelove, love, love...have always loved white walls. Just as I was convincing myself to try some real color in my new house, I learn white is coming back and I'm now seeing it everywhere. I guess I have to ask myself, why fight it when you love it?
ReplyDeleteI am a huge fan of white! For some reason I can't get enough of it.
ReplyDeletePersonally I like white walls to beige walls. It can make for a very timeless and elegant design.

I used to be terrified of painting my walls, because I found it hard to chose the right color and usually ended up with the wrong one. I stuck to white for a long time but I have grown tired of the safety of white and painted my apartment a light grey. It totally works and looks amazing! So, I am over my fear of color!
ReplyDeleteI have always been amused to be here....simply an awesome post..
ReplyDeleteWhite walls enhance space but they get too dirty...I like colorful walls: orange, light green, yellow, etc. However, can't deny the beauty and elegance of white. If you have someone painting the walls for you go for it. I do everything myself so I'm not sure I'll go for white. But hey these things look nice in pictures. Don't they? I recently did some light-grey wall panels with a local company called Dayoris (dayoris.com) and it takes forever to clean them but I'm in love with their modern look.
ReplyDeleteYay to white walls. I know they can appear cold and stark, but I see them as a blank canvas and a white room can easily be warmed up by the addition of an ornate feature piece of furniture or natural wood items, even choose one brightly coloured accessory to complete the room which breaks up the starkness. Then the room is softened but sill serene and light.
