Hello Lovelies! I am totally new to the DIY world and used to think just buying it was TOTALLY easier and the way to go...this was before my awesome Husband knocked my socks off and made me a bar. I have been wanting a wooden bar forever, but they are way expensive. We had this hutch in our basement. It was originally my Husband's change table from when he was a baby (awww!) but what do two people without a baby do with a change table??? Turn it into a bar of course! Have a look at the ugly before, let me warn you, this thing was a hot mess....and then the fab after!!!! SO glad I listened to my Hubby! Maybe this girl IS a DIY girl after all! ~ Sarah
Before...an old changing table
After...a stylish bar!

Oh wow! What a difference! Looks awesome
ReplyDeleteIt never ceases to amaze me what a coat of paint will do!
ReplyDeleteIt also would have made a great bathroom vanity. requires a little more work -- cut a sink hole on top and plumbing holes on the back. Voila! Looks great. I have an antique dresser I've had for YEARS that needs some sanding, primer and painting to update. How long did it take your Hubs to complete this project? Did he sand and prime before painting?
ReplyDeleteAmazing transformation. I'm so into redoing and updating furniture right now.

Thanks for the wonderful compliments Ladies!!! You have made my day!
ReplyDeleteIt took my Husband a few days to complete the bar. He first used a hand sander to sand the whole thing, primed it and then painted it with 2 coats. He allowed the primer to dry over night before painting it.
Let me know if you complete your projects! Would love to see them and feature them on my blog!
xoxo, Sarah

I have a piece of furniture that looks just like the original. This DIY seems manageable and just might be the cure to the eye sore in my apartment
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Only concern for me is not "spoiling" a valuable piece by refinishing. First make sure you're not painting over a priceless antique! :-)
