As we ease into 2012 and I head toward belle maison's 4 year anniversary in March, I'm taking some time to re-vamp and refresh my business and blog. I'd like to make this year more successful than ever, but in order to do that, I'd love some input from my fabulous readers. You are the reason I blog week after week, year after year! I so enjoy reading your comments, recommendations, thoughts and ideas after every blog post. So what I'm asking you today is, what topics are you interested in learning more about this year? For example, more DIY projects, organization tips, styling accessories...food, fashion, giving back? After writing 800+ blog posts thus far, I sometimes find myself stumped on what to cover next. Your suggestions would be much appreciated! And to thank you for your input, I'm going to be raffling off (2) $50 Gift Certificates to my online shop, Modern Chic Home! I'll announce the winners on Friday, January 20th. Thank you for your continued support of my blog. Another goal of mine is to spend more time visiting all of your blogs! Have a great weekend. xoxo - Julie
Would love to see examples of things from your store used IRL!
ReplyDeleteMore DIY projects!
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway
hi julie, what fun. hmmm, well i love, love, love your blog already so it's hard to make it better. seriously. but i've thought of starting a style column, i do enjoy reading those posts on other blogs, might be fun for you to try. some bloggers do it themselves, like bri at designlovevest's blog. oh, and i've enjoyed reading motherhood monday's on cup of jo's blog. i suppose that will be something you could entertain soon as you are a mom to be! so that's my input. but i love your blog, always will. have a great weekend!!
ReplyDeleteI personally enjoy when the designers post looks for less- or how to copy the look of an upscale room (since im not so much of a do-it-yourselfer.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see organizational tips for our homes!

I think it would be great to see more DIY (I always love a good project) and organization. I would also love seeing more from Modern Chic Home featured on the site!
ReplyDeleteIt's been so fun following you!

I already like everything you post but I think something unexpected and original would be fun to see! Like some of your projects, or store clients that send you how they styled your products.
ReplyDeleteI love all your posts! I would love to see more of how your products are being used with clients! It would help bring us more insight to your creativity and inspire us even more!
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to improve on perfection, Julie, but I would love to see photos of your own home, because they show interior design in real life. Thanks for the inspiration, day after day!
ReplyDeleteI would love to see some DIY's and more photos from your home! And also some baby updates! ;)
ReplyDeleteHi Julie, I really enjoy reading your blog and seeing your amazing photos! Your blog has just the right balance of information, and photos. Some blogs can be overwhelming to read often..too many pics or too much writing.
ReplyDeleteBut in this case...if I were to choose something to see more of, I would like to see more 'before & after' transformations (interiors, furniture, curtains, fabric, etc. )! I'm constantly amazed and inspired at how plain spaces and items can get transformed with the right touches!
Thanks!
More DIY's would be wonderful and I am always one looking for some organizing tips as well! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI think your blog is lovely. I like to see "everyday inspiration," meaning photos of design that does not require huge rooms and enormous pocketbooks.
ReplyDeleteI would like to see interior design ideas, and interiors pics in general.
ReplyDeleteLove, Olga
Loving the feedback so far! Thanks again for sharing your thoughts :)
ReplyDeleteMy question right now relates to the carved French Renaissance Louis XV walnut buffet that I use in the kitchen for everyday dishes/utensils. The kitchen has a stainless/grey/white theme. My senses are to paint the buffet white. Would this be a very bad - destructive thing to do to this antique?
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see styling, styling and more styling! It's really the soul of the design IMO and would love to see your take.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see more design tips--mixing patterns, how to style bookcases, uses for items, etc. I really love your blog and always refer to it for inspiration.
ReplyDeleteHi Julie, I really love your blog..Thanks for sharing your ideas with us .It would be great if we could have more posts on different styles from all around the world such as Moroccan,Persian and.....:)

ReplyDeleteI really enjoy reading your posts because they are full of gorgeous pictures and just the right amount of words to describe what you are showing. My favourites are the quotes with the pictures, I really enjoy those ones. I would love to see more decor styling tips :)
ReplyDeletelove your blog the way it is! i get an e-mail every time you post, as i subscribed.
ReplyDeletenot sure what to suggest in the way of something new. would you ever consider featuring the homes/rooms of your readers or interviewing "the common folk" about their design ideas? you could even offer challenges for readers to use one of your posts to inspire a room re-do of their own, and then have people send in photos that you could feature, showing the original room and the results from that inspiration. it may be too many participants to post, but you could put them in a flickr pool or something, and then just feature a few on your blog post.
i'm sure those suggestions would entail a lot of work, and i know you already have your hands very full with a baby on the way and your business. but i know people like to participate in things when they can. i know i would!
I'm really interested in hearing more about styling accessories!
ReplyDeleteHonestly..all of the above. Organizational tips, DIY projects. A good receipe is helpful for those of us that cook the same meals week after week. And I am always looking for fashion tips b/c as a mother of 3 young children, I sometimes feel out of the loop on what is fashionable.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree, your blog is already fantastic! I would love to see more organizational tools & styling accessories too =)
ReplyDeleteDIY projects AND organization!!! Recipes and fashion are my next top requests/suggestions!
ReplyDeleteKeep them coming! Love the blog!
Your blog is simply wonderful- what could be really neat though is giving step by step suggestions on how to begin to design a room or house- thats usually the hardest part! Or how to incorporate artwork into an interior or how to decorate while keeping things functional. Just getting more specific would be nice :) Or how to find your style& make a room look bigger& using complementary colors. Great blog though, its fun to read and very inspiring!
ReplyDeleteI think sources for great finds -- $ to $$$ would be great!! Love your blog!
ReplyDeleteYour blog is already fantastic, I've been obsessed with it for over three years now! I would love to see how your customers use the items they purchase from Modern Chic in their homes! Also, maybe you could feature some more local stuff in your area? I love southern california and would like to see some posts on design related stuff from the area, from your perspective? Just a thought. Keep up the great work and happy new year!
ReplyDeleteI truly love your blog! I've decorated my entire house based off of ideas I get from your posts. No lie! Keep it all up! I enjoy seeing room based posts... like ones all about bedrooms. Ones just about kitchens. I like seeing color palate posts, like your recent navy blue one. I really like to see more posts on how to accessorize per season.
ReplyDeleteThanks for asking us all! Happy New Year! I can't wait to see how you decorate your nursery; if you choose to share with us all! I hope all is well.

ReplyDeleteI love looking at your blog and seeing your colours and what works with what! I also love your sense of style and certainly get ideas and inspiration from your blog. I would love to see DIY projects and how to re-vamp old goodies to make them look like new. Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteI honestly don't know if you can improve the blog..It's already fantastic. I agree that DIY projects and seeing how others use the same items in their home is interesting. And maybe some nursery ideas once the baby comes :-) I love the posts on affordable interior, such as your post about ikea. All in all your blog is a great source of inspiration, keep up the good work :-)

I love your blog, and I have to say that I follow it from the beginning. I found so much inspiration and I still find it very well balanced and chic. Although, I would like to find more inspiration on small spaces and how to use colors and patterns in these places. Thanks for making my days happier, Mara.

I think helping someone get a beautiful home can be a great gift, but not everything works as a gift (fantastic pottery vs, say, wallpaper). It would be great to see some more gift ideas...
ReplyDeleteJulie!
ReplyDeleteYou are simply fantastic, and so is "Bellemaison." Thank you for all you do, and the inspiration you give to so many!
xoxo!

Hi julie,
ReplyDeleteAlthough you are a bit "new found" for me, I truly love your blog! I've found so much space and interior inspiration. Something I am looking forward to hearing is more about your DIY projects and where you get inspiration for them. Thanks for all that you do!
Love the blog --- every time I come on the site I want to redecorate my entire house! I'd love to see more DIY posts because if I'm going to redecorate all the time I've absolutely gotta do it on a budget ;)
ReplyDeleteYour blog is so lovely! You have great taste in decor and color. I'd love to see more DIY and salvage projects. The ones you've posted are wonderful, suited for the design obsessed on a budget. I'd also love to see more bathroom ideas...I'm thinking of revamping mine. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love the blog already....one thing that is always helpful for me is to see how others go about solving design challenges. How to make a defined space work, when you don't have the budget or option to renovate--and of course any DIY is always fantastic. :-)
ReplyDeleteAlready a lovely blog! I do love DIYs and floor plan solutions.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see DIY's with before and after shots!
ReplyDeleteif only i had you in my back pocket everyday.
