I grew up in a house full of beautiful things. And what made them beautiful had nothing to do with expense. Some may have been worth some money - but for the most part they all had a story. From a trip to Greece or a dusty old junk shop or a crazy lucky find on the side of the highway. Once in an article, the decor of my old home was described as "eclectic." That word has been pretty overused as of late and I far prefer the more recent concept of a "curated" home. That's what I want for my own home. And what I love about some of the pictures above. They're full of stories. About a life - not a shopping trip or a good decorator. (Though who couldn't use a good decorator to help arrange the stories?)
I really love the bedroom and study with use of traditional antiques..with a twist. The spaces feel well lived, and reflect a well travelled full life.
Beautiful as ever, Julie!
ReplyDelete:))) Like Nate says: all of the things around me are personal references... they remind me of places I've been to and people I've loved :)
