There's something so charming and nostalgic about adding vintage & antique pieces to your home. When everything in a space is brand-new, it's usually quite obvious and takes some time before the room starts to feel "broken in." By mixing in a vintage chair, artwork, bookcase, accessory, etc., with modern, classic and transitional pieces, you can create a chic and timeless look. You just have to have the right balance of new and old - too many antique pieces can end up looking dated. If you take the time to scour thrift shops, flea markets, Craig's List, and garage sales, you can find some incredible and inexpensive items.
What vintage piece(s) have you purchased for your home that you absolutely love? Did you get a good deal or did you splurge on something really special? I love hearing your thoughts!
On that note, have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend! Do you have anything fun planned? I can't wait to relax by the pool and get started on my summer tan! This girl needs some color :) xoxo - Julie

The colours in that 5th image are gorgeous. I love the mix of vintage and modern. :)
ReplyDeletegreat pics. I like the look of a gallery wall rather than an inspiration board over a desk, it ups the chic factor. I remember those orange chairs from the mag, and they are the coolest!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos! I love mixing new (which can be more comfy) with vintage (which can so be stylish). Sigh. Want these rooms.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love the photo of the table with vase and dishes. Just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAny suggestions where to buy such a black plastic deer like at picture no. 2?
ReplyDeleteI love the look of antiques mixed with traditional decor...adds such character to any room.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to do just that...mix vintage and modern pieces for what is hopefully an updated look in an our historic house. We just hung Chiang Mai Dragon wallpaper in our powder room which I think is a perfect example of "vintage modern" :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post. I love the snug -built in in image 6. That is most inviting. Image 1- that is a beuaituful functional cart for the printer and such, it can be rolled away when not needed.
ReplyDeleteYou always put so much into your blog, for which I thank you, it transports one to a beautiful world.
Sincerely

Hello!
ReplyDeleteI stumbled upon your blog a few months ago. My first comment is much overdue!
I live in Dallas and have a new home. Your site has truly helped me decorate every room. From my new round, black mirror above my bed to the two tall matching lamps on the night stands. From the picture collage on my living room wall, much like photo one in this post.
Thank you for posting such amazing ideas and great inspiration!
Bekah~
"Vintage Modern" - i love it, I need to hone this look for my home. Just the right amount of colour and class x
