Bust sculptures have been around for centuries, often placed in traditional and classic settings. I've never considered using a bust as an accessory in any of my design projects, I guess maybe because I've associated them with "stuffy and formal"...until now. After searching several of my favorite design sites, I began noticing decorative busts used as accessories everywhere. Where have I been?! Living room, foyer, bedroom, bathroom...a bust can be used as a focal point / statement piece, or it can be mixed in subtly with other accessories. Either way, I'm loving busts and plan on incorporating them into future projects one way or another! What do you think about accessorizing with busts? Have you tried this in your own home? You know I always love your comments and appreciate you taking the time to put in your two cents :) Wishing you a fabulous weekend. xoxo - Julie

I like the look- and it can go with almost any decor! My mother-in-law has them in practically every room, and in the garden. There're all so individually interesting :)
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of wrapping necklaces on it so pretty!
ReplyDeletei love the one with the jewelry on it. Its perfect for that!
ReplyDeleteNeat! I'd use one if it was a bright blue or orange. :D
ReplyDeleteI'm contemplating purchasing a cool sculpture/bust I've seen at a local antique mall. This may be the push I needed!
ReplyDeleteImmediately spotted the Kelly Wearstler pics. I certainly don't mind taking cues from a design genius! Bring on the busts!
ReplyDeleteI'm not really a fan of busts around the house. But I have to agree that they are a great way of accessorizing. Just not my thing :)

My favorite place seeing a bust was at a showhouse where it was used in a master bath to hang the hand towel. It looked fabulous sitting on the sink with towel draped over the shoulder.
ReplyDeleteLove it!! Such a classic element to add to any space!
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to get Manon Lescaut ever since I saw her in InStyle Home. I think she'd look great on a nightstand.

I love busts! I have several, including one that is bigger than life size on a tall pedestal as a focal point in the garden.
ReplyDeleteLove it! I'm always on the hunt for interesting vintage ones!
ReplyDeleteBusts are a great idea! I love how in one of the pictures a bust is used to store jewelry.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of putting long necklaces on them, might keep mine from tangling haha.
ReplyDeleteLOVE it. I have a cement one of a young girl that I bought in Paris and carried for blocks (heavy) back to our apartment when we lived there. It's on my blog header.
