Animal Prints have been making a comeback in the world of fashion in fresh, updated colors and designs. Snakeskin, cheetah, zebra...found on everything from shoes and clutches to blouses and dresses. A great way to pull of this look without crossing into "tacky" territory, is to pair the animal print with a solid color such as black, olive green, brown, or gray. The same rule can be applied to animal prints used in home decor - a little goes a long way! Opposite of fashion, I think this look is fairly timeless when it comes to interior design. I'll never tire of a cool
faux zebra rug placed in a living room or a cheetah print throw pillow on an accent chair. When used the right way, animal prints are a great way to kick your outfit or home up a notch! How do you feel about this trend? Do you prefer it more in fashion or interiors design? Please share your thoughts!
Grrrrrr!! Sorry...Couldn't resist!

I think that every space could use an animal print of some sort. A little here and there.
ReplyDeleteThat yellow tufted headboard is stunning. I know its not animal print but it caught my eye!
ReplyDeleteI think "subtle" animal prints used sparingly are timeless, classic and add an unexpected element to a room or outfit. It's when they are overused boldy and made of "cheap" materials they become "tacky", in my "ever so humble" opinion!! I have a very subtle cheetah print velvet on an ottoman and pillows in my living room, that I haven't wanted to change in 10 years!! I have a several pairs of shoes in an animal print, a coat and a few dresses that I pair with classic pieces to keep them in check. So I think they have a place both in fashion and interiors when accessorized appropriately.
