Lizzie Carney, a stylist/designer for the import firm
Euro Trash, dramatically transformed her 1,000-square-foot home by breaking the rules and making up her own. Dark walls and dramatic pieces of furniture mixed with vintage finds are what make this small home feel much larger than it really is. Read on for some fabulous tips on how Lizzie made the most of every square inch of her home, leaving no room or area untouched. "If you love a piece of furniture, find a way to make it work," says Lizzie. I couldn't agree more! What do you think of her fabulous home?! (Design tips and info via

Old Rule: White walls are a must when square footage is limited.

How ironic - we have 2 extra rooms in our new place and I was thinking to make one of them my walk in closet!!! :))
ReplyDeleteThank you for this! My own bedroom has dark orange walls and I'm SO SICK of reading again and again that bedrooms should use light cool colors! Thanks for making it OK to break the rules.
ReplyDeleteI love her kitchen- the heavy island and delicate chandelier are fantastic together. I also LOVE the dining room surrounded by wine in the basement- so chic! The dressing room is of course, to die for..what I wouldn't give for a dressing room:)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing- gorgeous pics!
her home has such a sense of charm to it! love her unique style.
ReplyDeleteThe dining room/wine cellar in the basement is such a fantastic idea! Where is she based out of? Is it warm enough in the basement to eat in the winter? And the walk in closet is ridiculous. I'll take 2. One for clothes and one for shoes and bags.
ReplyDeleteI want her kitchen! Excited for the giveaways :).
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Love the thoughts on dark walls creating the illusion of depth!

ReplyDeleteohhhh I LOVE her place!! hmmm. thinking I should dump the play room and turn IT into a dressing room! Yes! Kids will love the idea, I am sure~
ReplyDeleteJust painted my studio grey.....now thinking I should have gone a little darker...but not re-doing it with 13 foot vaulted ceilings!
* Have always loved old shutters~ ANYplace! Looks like she has created a very personal space that suits her needs & I applaud that... am sure her cocktail/dinner parties are fun, too!
