Bloompapers

I received an email from a company called Bloompapers and when I visited their website to see what they were all about, I was pleasantly surprised! Here's a little about who they are in their own words, "We offer you the chance to adorn your walls with large digitally printed images and to see your home or workplace as never before. Using exclusive works by contemporary artists, an extensive selection of our own images and the option to turn your own photos into a wall mural, Bloompapers gives you an original and innovative solution to your home when anything else just won´t do..." All of the wall murals are designed exclusively by up and coming European artists and can be shipped to anywhere in the world! Talk about a great way to create an amazing art wall! STRIPES

This is one of my favorites - it's an image of a rose used as a ceiling medallion.

Quote of the Week

"In the American way of saying things fast:
fashion fades, style sticks. Fashion comes through purported advice from magazines and critics; something you adopt. Style, though, isn't something you apply like hand cream. It comes from within, as an emanation from your own being. If it seems a bit devilish, maybe it has to be to capture rightly the whole you."

Creative Ways to Display Dishes

I'm in love with the idea of displaying and storing dishes outside of closed cabinets! Instead of hiding your pretty dishes, stack them neatly on shelves or in a bookcase. Not only will it add interest to the decor of your kitchen, it's a convenient way to easily access what you need.

Metal storage shelves make for a great pantry and the metal storage bins a perfect drawers!

I love the chalk board in this kitchen!

I'm in love with this teal vintage dish rack!

New! Organic Bedding by Amy Butler

Amy Butler is one of my favorite artist & textile designers. Her designs are always so fresh and cheerful. I hadn't been over to her website in a while and was thrilled to discover she has designed and recently launched her first bedding collection, which is absolutely stunning! Here's what Amy had to say about it:

"It's here! And I'm so amazed at how it has turned out! My first line of bedding - bright, fresh, modern, exciting and 100% Organic! With all new luscious prints on 5 bedding collections–all with 400 thread count sheets, tons of elegant embroidery and printed with low-impact dyes (that hold their color!) these beds feel as soft and elegant as they appear. Each bed is inspired by a lavish garden destination. I dream of gardens-so what better inspiration for sleep? Enjoy!" I've posted (3) out of the (5) collections. Click here to see them all!

Mixing it up!

I always admire designers who have no fear when it comes to mixing lots of different patterns together in a room. This is one area I struggle with - I tend to avoid mixing too many different patterns together and end up playing it safe...which sometimes can be boring. What I've noticed in many of these photos is that pattern is used almost to the point of exaggeration - patterned carpet, walls, pillows, drapery, etc. However, I think this is why it works for most of these rooms - you kind of need to go a little over-the-top to really pull it off. Another tip is to mix patterns that are different scales; pairing a large print with a smaller one creates a sense of balance.

"What you have to do and the way you have to do it is incredibly simple. Whether you are willing to do it,
that's another matter."
