Today is my birthday! I'm 28 years old...a hop skip and a jump away from 30 - yikes! I was born in 1980 and I couldn't resist taking a step back in time to reminisce about the trends of the eighties. My husband and I laughed for hours last night as we flash backed to memories of giant hair, fluorescent colors, acid washed jeans, slap bracelets, LA Gear, stirrup pants, Flashdance, shoulder pads, parachute pants, velcro sneakers, Swatch watches, hair scrunchies, leg warmers, banana clips, Jordache Jeans, hypercolor shirts, Gotcha shirts, lycra bike shorts, slouch socks, Lee Press on Nails...I could go on and on! I put together some fun collages to jog your memory of the eighties era (that is if you were around then). I hope they make you laugh like I did :)

Happy Birthday! Having been born in 78, it's hard for me not to think of the 80s as my childhood. It certainly is strange to see these things come back.
ReplyDeleteAnd how sad is that Vanilla Ice pic?!
HAPPY Birthday!! OH the 80's - GOOD times!!!
ReplyDeleteSlap it!

The 80s were my high school and college years. Your pictures made me laugh... and cringe a little.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, and congrats on having accomplished so much at such a young age.
Oh, wow! You are so young! Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteI must admit, I miss some of the eighties fashion—well, maybe not miss, but still like. I've seen a few come back from time to time. I don't mind.
:)
I just know I will never wear another scrunchie again!!
:)
Blessings on your 29th year and beyond!
Oh God, I hope we never totally bring back the 80s fashions again. I do like some elements of it, but I HATED the hair! I never did like spending an hour on my hair every day to curl my bangs and spray them to death, only to have them go flat in the rain. And no acid wash...although I still see people wearing this today!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the walk down memory lane :)
Oh, and duh! Happy birthday!
ReplyDeleteFirst let me say... HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
ReplyDeleteSecond... I haven't been able to visit you site... router problem... UGH! Yea... I'm BACK!
Third.... OMG... you are giving me flashbacks! I won't even tell you how old I was when you were born. Fourth... 30s are nothing to be afraid of!
ENJOY your weekend!

These photos are all really great. What a trip down memory lane for me too.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to you!
Hookay, I'll be honest. This post almost made me rethink my loathing for all things 80s. Almost, but I still think we should let the 80s stay dead. Here's why: http://theurbanprofessional.com/2008/08/five-looks-the-urban-professional-should-not-sport/
ReplyDeleteHappy Belated Bday....WOW what an 80's flashback!
ReplyDeleteI used to collect every Madonna poster from Bop magazine as I could...I had them all. That one was one of my faves. :)
That was such an interesting era, even though I laugh at it now.
