What Makes a Home?
"Home is the ongoing story of a person (in this case, you). Think about how to create a sense of identity and, by extension, a future. It's all up to the individual...To shape a sense of place, you need to stand back from the relentless pursuit of a look... A home can be complex, a place for crazy combination, for modernity, for memory. Try things out. If it works for you, it works. Forget about restraint, good taste and what the neighbors will think. Home can be filled with things that please the eye, soothe the senses, and move us in some way. It can be decorative, with panels of pattern, playful and alive, to keep us company. In short, home is a canvas for self expression. There's only one rule: leave space for change, a place for passing passions, for something else to come along. If things are too defined, there is no possibility for life."

I need to keep this in mind when I start fretting about the place not looking cohesive.
